Ethical Considerations in Cultural Competence

Diversity and cultural competency has become  increasingly important to psychologists as our society has become more ethnically diverse where people of color are the majority in some regions of the country.  Furthermore, APA ethical codes highlight the importance of providing psychological services  in a culturally relevant manner.  To this end, this workshop will highlight the connection between ethical standards and  delivering culturally relevant services to  diverse populations.

Speaker: John Queener, Ph.D., is a professor in the Counseling Department at the University of Akron.  He serves on and chairs several committees regarding inclusiveness, improving the University racial climate, and diversity.  He is a licensed, practicing psychologist.  He has several publications, grants, awards and has been a presenter in a multitude of settings.

3.0 MCE Ethics and Diversity credits will be provided from the OPA-MCE.  The Cleveland Psychological Association, Inc. is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association, Inc., #06P0-341377843, maintains responsibility for the program.
