 Presentation:  In Our Own Voice: Living with Mental Illness

 

A NAMI Signature program, provided by 2 presenters who have experienced mental health challenges. They will share their personal stories, from the dark days of a mental health crisis to the successes, hopes and dreams they are now experiencing in recovery.

 

Speaker: Ellen Riehm

Community Education Coordinator with NAMI Greater Cleveland since 2007.

 

Speaker: Tom Ference, PhD, MPH, received his degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1999 and has been a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Ohio for over 16 years. He received his MPH degree in Health Policy and Management from Kent State University in 2017. He is currently the Director of Psychology at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare (NBH).

At NBH, Dr. Ference is the Vice Chair of the of Ethics Committee, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, the Behavior Therapy Committee, the Morbidity & Mortality Committee, the Learning Center Advisory Group, and the Forensic Services Committee.   Dr. Ference is a Mental Health team member of the Cuyahoga County – Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team.

Presentation: Welcome to Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare:

Tom Ference’s presentation will include a tour of NBH facility through slides, with some emphasis on the forensic process. NBH patient population consists of Civil and Forensic patients, which will be described.  In addition to the slides that introduce us to the hospital and some of its history, some slides detailing how people might get admitted to the hospital will be added.

 

 

2.0 MCE credits will be provided from the OPA-MCE.  The Cleveland Psychological Association, Inc. is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association, Inc., #06P0-341377843, maintains responsibility for the program.

Reservations: Members and non-members may register and pay online by clicking on the button below by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018.  Emergency cancellations will be accepted until 5:00pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2018.  Members who do not cancel and do not attend will be charged the guest fee and may not attend the next event until the fee has been paid.
