Speakers:   Michael O. Ranney, MPA, and Jim Broyles, PhD, will discuss our new governance structure, new focus for our Director Of Professional Affairs, the behavioral health redesign, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, pending insurance issues, new role of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services in helping to monitor mental health parity, the Department of Insurance, the Board of Psychology, OPA legislative agenda and answer questions.

Michael O. Ranney, MPA, has served as Executive Director of the Ohio Psychological Association since 1997.  In December 2007, he completed 3 terms as a member of the APA Committee for the Advancement for Professional Practice (CAPP), serving as the elected representative of the Council of Executives of State and Provincial Psychological Associations (CESPPA). During that time he served CESPPA as a member of the Executive Committee.  He is a graduate of Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa (BA) and the University of Pittsburgh (MPA).  His career includes work in non-profit management, marketing, public relations and fund raising.

Dr. Jim Broyles, PhD, is the new Director of Professional Affairs of the Ohio Psychological Association.  He has been a member of OPA since 2002.  He has served as Finance Officer, President, Insurance Committee Chair, Marketing Task Force Chair, LGBT Committee chair and has been a member of numerous committees over the years he’s been involved with OPA. He plays a key role in OPA’s Leadership Development Academy, including acting as a mentor for one of the Academy fellows.  He is active in advocacy work, frequently providing testimony on behalf of the association. Dr. Broyles has a practice in Grove City, Ohio, just south of Columbus, and specializes in working with children, adolescents, families, and LGBT issues.


2.0 MCE credits will be provided from the OPA-MCE.  The Cleveland Psychological Association, Inc. is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association-MCE program to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Cleveland Psychological Association, Inc., #06PO-341377843, maintains responsibility for the program.
