Chronic Pain Self-Management: What All Psychologists Should Know


In the midst of the opioid crisis, health care providers are looking for alternatives to opioids in the effective management of chronic pain.  Dr. Van Keuren will discuss the effective strategies that psychologists can use to help patients and providers looking for healthy strategies to manage chronic pain.  


Speaker: Dr. Cindy van Keuren, PsyD., is the creator and director of the CARF accredited pain management intensive outpatient program at the Cleveland VA.  She is the lead psychologist in the pain management center and serves as a consultant to various clinics throughout the VA system.  Dr. Van Keuren developed a training curriculum as part of VA ECHO to help mental health providers in rural VA systems become adept at providing mental health services for those struggling with chronic pain.  She is involved in various local and national committees to promote education and awareness of pain related issues. 


2.0 MCE credits will be provided from the OPA-MCE.  The Cleveland Psychological Association, Inc. is approved by the Ohio Psychological Association, Inc., #06P0-341377843, maintains responsibility for the program.
